At the frontier of the skin wild dogs patrol. Salman Rushdie
Raw to the Surface is a story about skin, traces of clothes, objects, and time. Fashion photographs and still life of the typical old, rusty, and peeling architecture of the city, eaten by algae and seagulls, are used as a frame to explore and understand modes of displaying and perceiving the female body. Venice, in its increasing and unstoppable decomposition, parallels the fragility and continuous changes of the human body, with its bruises, wrinkles, and scratches.
Photographer Camilla Gloriosso addresses the material composition of skin and flesh, attempting to visualise the borders and limits between the inside and the outside of the body.
Pictures from the editorial, along with other projects, will be part of the exhibition Raw to the Surface at the 71A Gallery, from the 1st to the 3rd December. Click here to read more and watch the video presentation.
