We are once again happy to present coverage from the event to launch PETRIe 68: Not Your Savage. Hosted at The Photographers' Gallery, the party included a panel discussion moderated by Rudy Betty, Senior Fashion Editor of PETRIe, and attended by Zadrian Smith and Samia Giobellina, PETRIe Editor-In-Chief and Fashion Director respectively, contributing photographer Nicoló Bagnati and make-up artist Ammy Drammeh.
Nicoló Bagnati spoke on how he uses photography as a tool to question societal issues that are difficult to talk about, while Samia discussed curating the issue with consistency of contributions and PETRIe's fashion ethos in mind. In her own words: "It's not about the credit, it´s about the image." Zadrian detailed the experience behind the story he shot in his native Savannah, layered on a personal narrative surrounding his family. Ammy Drammeh and Rudy Betty discussed their own collaborative work for the issue, Commonplace, their aim to tackle biases and social labels, and their choice of street casting.
We hope you enjoy the video!
