Placed around Gallions Reach, the ghost-like town in the East area of London, this story follows a young girl's journey towards self-discovery in an apparent no-man's-land and alienated surroundings. Despite doubts and the fear of the unknown, she moves on, crossing man-made border and discovering a new world.
The story, led by photographer Jack Lee and stylist Brillant Nyansago, references Mishka Henner's book, “No Man's Land,” a photographic project documenting the lives of roadside prostitutes in Italy and Spain, produces entirely by performing searches in Google Street View. The story challenges common understanding of freedom and its visual representations, employing a narrative following the close relationship between subject and environment.
