Future´s Archives (Part One) is a series questioning the construction of identity, by imitation or differentiation, through the genres of portrait and fashion imagery. The story explores the link between the social implications of portraiture and the process of image creation and ways of representation.

French photographer Marie Deteneuille's take on beauty and identity reflects an interest in the strength of narrative – the personal story as an unalienable element of identity formation. In Future´s Archives, she puts together visual renditions of universal questions such as “Who am I?” and “What is the story I tell about myself?” These increments of identity and personal reality are to be weighed against their representations – the use and reuse of the image as a conduit of selfhood, as well as ethical implications of these processes.
