Continuing with the theme of success, today the PETRIe Team has been talking about how they make their dreams and aspirations become a reality.

The only way anyone’s going to walk up to you and hand you everything you’ve ever wanted is if you’re standing in front of a mirror.
— Katie Aske

Zadrian Smith, Editor-in-Chief:

I don’t think, I don’t talk... I do!

Campbell Addy, Creative Director, Youth and Subculture Editor:

I make goals. I’m realistic. I try to be patient. I try to be kind and to understand others better. I keep learning new things.

Grace Carter, Editorial and Features Director:

Hard work, determination, perseverance, setting myself clear goals and deadlines, through never being satisfied (although this is not always a good thing), through being super organised, working longer than 9 to 5, taking on as many opportunities as possible, working weekends, working holidays, never putting an ‘out of office’ on my e-mails, through being confident and willing to speak my mind, and by never, ever giving up. After all, “Rome wasn’t built in a day.”

Desi Lazarova, International Fashion Director:

The honest way would be to work really hard for it. In other cases, having the right friends goes a long way too.

Katie Aske, Features Editor:

Take chances. It’s easier said than done, but when opportunity presents itself, take it. When it doesn’t, make it. The only way anyone’s going to walk up to you and hand you everything you’ve ever wanted is if you’re standing in front of a mirror.

Elizabeth Neep, Features Associate:

Recognise opportunities, create more opportunities and when you take them, be prepared to work hard. Be flexible and open-minded, remembering dreams may need to be molded and aspirations honed. And yet, don’t be passive in permitting change; this is your dream, not theirs. If you are lucky enough to find people that share your vision and your values, work with one another, together you will make more noise.

Angela Hamilton-Daley, Beauty Editor:
I read inspirational books, watch movies and documentaries about people’s lives, look at photography, create mood boards and scrap books, and scroll through Instagram.

Martin Brown, Financial Director, Politics Editor:

Dream them in the day.

Brillant Nyansago, Managing Editor and Social Media Editor:

Just do it!

Sorana Serban, Art Editor:

I write a list and read it out loud.

Charlotte Sutherland-Hawes, Lifestyle Editor:

Work hard, believe you’re worth it and network like hell to get every chance that’s open to you.

Dimas Bian, Music Editor:
By investing and synchronising my time and energy towards that particular dream one day at a time, because I think I am in this weird time in my life right now where I am learning to enjoy the process and journey. Keep spreading the love.
