A diverse serenade of elegant models in black velvet evening gowns, slim peaked-shoulder jackets, sheer tops and geometric patterns – the Armani Privé Fall Haute Couture 2016 show had them all. Defined by a surprising reserve of colour and cut, the collection comprises smart, sophisticated, linear silhouettes, thus building on the recognisable and established aesthetic of legendary designer, Giorgio Armani.

For PETRIe Lineage, Photographer Thurstan Redding was backstage at the show, during the Haute Couture Collections, exploring the undirected excitement and restless in-between moments behind the runway. Detailed, close-up shots, careful movement and the thrill of waiting – they all speak the visual language of Haute Couture behind the scenes.

In this series, Redding's lens is rather protective than intrusive; instead of hunting the fast paced, high energy character of the scene, he seeks the soft, delicate atmosphere, the honesty and emotion of the evening, in a play of light and darkness, carefully selecting what to show and what to leave unseen.
