Following the huge popularity of Netherlands musical export Kygo, comes another - this time the very appealing Sevdaliza, who describes herself on her SoundCloud account as, “everything you want me to be.”

From the first time I listened to the album, I couldn’t help but draw references to the distinct voice of Little Dragon’s Yukimi Nagano and Marian Hill’s Bodega Beats.

A very sensual debut from the Dutch singer/producer, her EP is wittily entitled The Suspended Kid - Starring Sevdaliza as the Kid. From the first time I listened to the album, I couldn’t help but draw references to the distinct voice of Little Dragon’s Yukimi Nagano and Marian Hill’s Bodega Beats.

Sevdaliza’s video trailer for the album begins with a young school girl - perhaps being bullied or suspended - who then runs away to an isolated field. Pausing to rest under a statuesque tree, the young girl turns to see Sezdaliva wearing the exact same outfit, looking back at her as if travelling through time to save her younger self.

Expect a lot of jagged synth lines hooked all over stomping beats.

As for the music, expect a lot of jagged synth lines hooked all over stomping beats. On her Sirens of the Caspian video she starts speaking French - France being where I originally thought she was from - and displays constant juxtapositions of a snake with her gold grill teeth close up, intertwined with footage of her dancing in the background.

A pretty solid debut album, make sure to listen to it here and decide for yourself if she is everything you want her to be.
